P&MM wins at the Employee Benefits Awards
Nottingham City Council Wins Leading Industry Award for Employee Benefits

Nottingham City Council's 'Works Perks' employee benefits programme has won the award for 'Most Effective Application of Tax-Efficient Benefits' at the recent Employee Benefits Awards 2008.

Works Perks, implemented and managed with the support of Milton Keynes-based leading employee benefits supplier p&mm, includes salary sacrifice schemes greentravel2work, cycle2work, and childcare-plus.

Nottingham City Council, employing 13,200 staff, decided to extend their popular Works Perks benefits programme by introducing the new greentravel2work product from p&mm. Greentravel2work was developed in support of the Government's Green Travel Plan and offers staff the opportunity to pay for an annual bus pass through 12 monthly reductions from their salary. The scheme delivers income tax and NI savings for the employee as well as NI savings for the employer on the amount sacrificed. Judges were reportedly impressed with the programme's 'innovative and clever' focus.

Richard Davies, Head of Employee Benefits at P&MM, said: "The Nottingham City Council scheme is a shining example of how a salary sacrifice benefits programme can be created to really appeal to staff, offering them savings on the things that matter most. Greentravel2work makes a fantastic addition that not only offers valuable tax-efficient benefits, as recognised with this award, but also promotes corporate social responsibility and a greener lifestyle, which is something that I am sure the judges looked upon favourably."

He continued: "We are, of course, delighted to have this innovative scheme recognised by these prestigious industry awards and expect to see more organisations following in Nottingham City Council's success with this popular benefits programme."
